Okay so Nolan is Done (and he gave us 1 good, 1 Great and 1 bad Batman movie)
So DC/WB is going to be rebooting etc.
What Do I want/hope to see in the next group of Batman Movies?
Some thoughts:
1- The Costume, I have no real issues with the "Batsuit" from Burtons/Nolans Films however I would like VERY much to see a Heavy look Cloth and some Leather Costume. No more sculpted muscles, no more super-sleek. I want and actor that is built enough that we buy it when the suits on (no one doubted thor and captain americas strength in their costumes).
I want something the actor can move in. I want a belt with big pouches I believe are crammed with gadgets/tools.
2-Batman needs to fight like a badass ninja/super genius. Yes I know it's hard to move in the "Batsuits" they've used for these films (see above) and choreographing fights scenes with a cape and such are hard. That being said, I want Batman that moves fast, brutal and planned. The second he hits the alley/rooftop/what have you, He is already moving like a man with a plan taking out everyone fast, calculated. Honestly the Bane/Batman fights were one of the few parts I liked but those were slugfests show us is Ninja/Strategy skills. Also he needs to use his cape as a weapon like in the comics, capes are always awkward in live action I know, so show his is a weapon.
3-ONLY Batman and Alfred know his identity. At-least for the 1st 1 or 2 movies. Honestly a HUGE dislike of the Nolan films was how everyone KNOWS who Batman is.
4-We HAVE to see that Batman is a Genius Detective/Planner/Strategist. We have barely been shown that in the movies thus far (yes I know it is VERY hard to show someone as a great detective in films because those watching can't keep up) This is important if/when DC/WB does a Justice League movie, because that Is the reason Batman is "in a room" with Superman and gang. Superman once described Batman/Bruce as "the most dangerous man on the planet, that's why I am glad he's on our side"
We need to see that side in a movie.
5-Batman HAS to be Scary early on, we the viewers should be scared of him at first. Jump cuts/whatever it takes to make Batman (at first) scary to us.
6-The "Batvoice" I'm not a super hater on what Bale did as Batman, but I can see why people are. I think the next live action movie should take a lesson from the cartoon and just add more echo/reverb to the voice when it's Batman, So he comes off as slightly spooky but not as forced as growling.
...that's it for now...may add more later...
Ranking Batman Movies:
1-The Dark Knight
2-Batman Begins
3-Mask of the Phantasm
4-Batman (1989)
5-Batman Returns
6-Batman Forever
7-The Dark Knight Rises
8-Batman The Movie (1966)
9-Batman & Robin
I agree, all of this is exactly what the Nolan movies were missing. I think Batman from the animated series is still my favorite.
